(Lenox, MA) – Shakespeare & Company announced today the addition of six new Board members to the Company's Board of Trustees. The new members joining the Board are Sandra Bourgeois, George Camarda, Phoebe L. Giddon, Beverly Hyman, Maureen O'Hanlon, and Scott Rubinow.
"I’m thrilled we have added so many talented and dedicated individuals to the Board this year," said Board Chair Ken Werner. "It’s a tribute to the leadership of Artistic Director Allyn Burrows and Managing Director Adam Davis that we’ve been able to attract Trustees who will add so much to the Company."
Three of the newly appointed trustees were introduced to the Company through their volunteer work. Sandra Bourgeois served as the Company's Volunteer Chair and provided leadership in the Company's Oral History and Archive Project. Maureen O’Hanlon is currently the Co-Chair of Shakespeare & Volunteer Company. Scott Rubinow also volunteered with the Oral History and Archive Project. George Camarda and Beverly Hyman are both new to the Company, and Phoebe Giddon returns to the board after serving from 1996 to 2015. More information on each new trustee below.

About the Trustees
Sandra Bourgeois (Sandy) graduated from Vassar College and has a Master’s Degree in African Studies from UCLA. After teaching high school social studies in New York for 6 years, she switched careers and worked in IT for 30 years as a programmer, project manager, and testing specialist. She worked at Aetna and MassMutual and retired in 2011. Bourgeois first got involved in the non-profit world at Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, CT, first as a guide and then Director of Development. After retiring from IT in 2011, she has volunteered as a member of the Gardens Crew and with the Oral History and Archives Project at Shakespeare & Company, and as a guide at Pigeon Key and a gardener and Board member at Marathon Garden Club in the Florida Keys. Bourgeois was President of the Volunteers at Shakespeare & Company from fall of 2015 to fall of 2017, and as such served ex officio on the Board of Trustees for the Company.
George Camarda has been a script supervisor for the past 20 years on TV productions including Law & Order, The West Wing, Boardwalk Empire and most recently Bull. His film credits include Boys Don’t Cry, among others. He has been a member of IATSE Local 161 since 1993 and was previously a locations manager for a number of films, television commercials, and music videos. Camarda is a recipient of the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts awards, and has produced and directed short films. His 30-minute short Miguel, Ma Belle has screened at over 40 international film festivals. As a photographer, he was awarded a grant to create a 17-foot wide photo panorama in the NY subway by the MTA-Arts for Transit. Camarda is a graduate of Emerson College with a BFA in theater directing.
Phoebe L. Giddon is a graduate of Brandeis University, and has served as a member of the university’s Board of Women and Gender Studies, a feminist organization made up of female students and professors. She and her husband, Dr. Donald Giddon, created the Women and Health Initiative in the Women’s Studies Program at Brandeis, and have sponsored WGS' popular "Sexuality in Healthcare" course. Giddon also served as a volunteer with the Massachusetts Association for the Blind. Giddon owns the travel company Travel Consultants International in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and is the co-owner of the Rothman’s in New York with her sons. She is actively involved with various arts organizations in and around Berkshire County, including Tanglewood/Boston Symphony Orchestra. Giddion returns to the Shakespeare & Company board after serving from 1996 to 2015.
Beverly Hyman is President of Beverly Hyman, Ph.D. and Associates, an international organizational development and training firm in business over 25 years. With offices in New York City, she and her associates provide consulting on: leadership and organizational development, executive coaching, strategic planning, communications training of all types, team building and facilitation. They do this for international firms and organizations and their Boards. Representative clients include: UNICEF, UNDP, NYC’s Metropolitan Transit Authority, the U.S. Labor Department, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Juilliard, Lincoln Center, Harvard University, Princeton University, Wells Fargo, and HSBC. Hyman is a long-time resident of the Berkshires with a historic home in Otis. She and her husband reside full time in Greenwich Village in NYC. Her community involvements include: current Trustee of New York University, current Board Chair of the Steinhardt School’s board at NYU, immediate past-President of NYU’s Alumni Association, and patron of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Hyman served on the Board of the Jean Cocteau Repertory theater for 6 years during the late 1990’s. Hyman holds her Ph.D. in Media, Culture and Communication from New York University. She is the author of 3 books, most recently How to Know If It’s Time to Go which she co-authored with her husband.
Maureen O’Hanlon is a 25-year veteran of the travel and hospitality industry. She joined the Prism Partnership as a Partner in 2004 and leads the firm’s marketing and sales practice. Prior to joining the Prism Partnership, O’Hanlon served with Prime Hospitality and Carlson Companies. O’Hanlon has been recognized as one of the "25 most influential industry executives" by Tour & Travel News; and was a recipient of the ATLAS Award for Marketing bestowed by the Association of Travel Marketing Executives. O’Hanlon serves on the Board of Synnikan, a Minneapolis-based organization that promotes mentoring and the advancement of women in the workplace. She also currently serves on the board of Berkshire Lyric, a Berkshire-based choral group, that has performed the last few years at Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood. She has been a volunteer at Shakespeare & Company for 14 years, and is currently co-President of Shakespeare & Volunteer Company.
Prior to his move to the Berkshires, Scott Rubinow worked as a math teacher at the Miller School and the Field School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Rubinow has also worked in various leadership positions with AIG; UBS; JP Morgan; and Morgan Stanley. Rubinow holds a Masters degree from Teachers College at Columbia University, as well as a Masters in Business from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. His undergraduate degree was from Tufts University in mathematics.
