Shakespeare & Company Presents a Winter Studio Festival of Plays

(Lenox, MA) – Shakespeare & Company is pleased to announce its Winter Studio Festival of Plays on January 13 and 14, 2018. This weekend of staged readings will showcase emerging and established playwrights, and feature Company artists. All performances will take place in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre on the Shakespeare & Company campus in Lenox, Massachusetts.

“We’re thrilled to present these absorbing plays for our January Festival of Readings,” said Artistic Director Allyn Burrows. “They are timely, classic, fun, and intriguing. This annual Festival is a great reason to get out of the cold, and enjoy some fascinating material and conversation with good company.”

The Winter Studio Festival titles include Wonders of the Invisible World, a new play by Liz Duffy Adams directed by the OBIE award-winning Nela Wagman; The Shadow of a Doubt, the newly discovered play by Berkshire legend Edith Wharton directed by longtime Company member Normi Noel; Timebomb, a new play by Carson Kreitzer directed by Allyn Burrows; the Pulitzer Prize winning Buried Child, by Sam Shepard directed by Charles Towers former Artistic Director at Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Virginia Stage Company and Portland Stage Company; and The Whirligig written and directed by Hamish Linklater, the actor known for The Big Short, The Fantastic Four and the series Fargo. He recently performed in The Public Theater’s production of Cymbeline opposite his wife Lily Rabe. Each reading will be followed by a post-show discussion with the artists.

Tickets are currently on sale, $10 for students and $25 for adults, general admission seating. A Festival pass to all five readings is also available at a 50% savings.
