Performances run August 3 through August 13

(Lenox, MA)- Shakespeare & Company brings Cry “Havoc!” to the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre. Written and performed by Stephan Wolfert and directed by Eric Tucker, this inspirational story, exploring pre- and post-military service, runs August 3 through August 13.

Tucker’s production of Cry “Havoc!” features playwright Stephan Wolfert as himself, recounting his own experiences as a veteran. With the help of Shakespeare’s most iconic speeches, he examines a story of military service that so often goes untold: the soldier’s struggle to reintegrate into society after coming home from combat. A follow up discussion with Wolfert after each performance gives the audience an opportunity to tackle the difficult questions posed by this powerful piece.

“We are all connected to a military vet in some way and their issues are our issues, whether we like it or not,” says director Eric Tucker. “You may enjoy Cry “Havoc!” as a piece of theatre and perhaps even as a tool for social awareness, but our hope is that it stays with you long after– as a guide to identifying, appreciating, and nurturing the veterans of your own community.”

The event runs under two hours and includes an intermission. Tickets for Cry “Havoc!” are available online at www.shakespeare.org, or by calling Shakespeare & Company at (413) 637-3353 during box office hours. The Bernstein Theatre is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible, with accessibility enhancements new this year. Shakespeare & Company is located at 70 Kemble Street in Lenox, Massachusetts.
