S&Co presents Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, at The Mount

Performances Run July 14 through August 20, 2016

(Lenox, MA) – Shakespeare & Company continues to roll out its 39th Performance Season with Twelfth Night, opening Thursday, July 14th. Written by William Shakespeare, and directed by Company veteran Jonathan Croy, this rebellious comedy plays at the Dell-Outdoors at the Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home, through August 20, 2016.

Outdoors, fresh, and fast-paced, this popular comedy catapults audiences into a world of illusion, debauchery, and mayhem. Amidst the forest and foliage, audiences are transported to the mythical land of Illyria - alongside the recently shipwrecked and lovelorn Viola. This 90-minute frolic unravels a madcap mix-up of characters and offers a reunion of epic proportions.

“There’s something magical about seeing a play at The Mount,” continues director Jonathan Croy. “Many people bring picnics and sit on that beautiful hillside in the open air, watching fight call or chatting with the actors before the show. I’ve seen conversations begun during the nightly Talkback continue well after the show was done. There’s a different energy, a ‘communal’ spirit that reminds me of the old days, when we performed down by Edith’s mansion under the stars.”

Croy’s production of Twelfth Night features returning Company members Marcus Kearns, Colin Gold, Gregory Boover, Conor Seamus Moroney, Kaileela Hobby, and Zoe Laiz. The creative team includes Govane Lohbauer (Costume Design) and the multi-talented Jonathan Croy as Set Designer, Sound Designer, and Director.

“I can’t think of a more perfect play for this summer than Twelfth Night,” continues Croy. “It’s funny and heartfelt, smart and playful; the actors are terrific, and the songs are delicious. This production has been delighting audiences all over New England this winter. It’s a unique experience and a lovely show.”

With a running time of 90 minutes, tickets for Twelfth Night are available online atwww.shakespeare.org, or by calling Shakespeare & Company at (413) 637-3353 during box office hours. Bring chairs or blankets, and a picnic; grounds open two hours before each performance. Shakespeare & Company is located at 70 Kemble Street in Lenox, Massachusetts. The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home, is located at 2 Plunkett Street, at the corner of Route 7 in Lenox, just a short distance from Shakespeare & Company.
