Shakespeare & Company offers performances specifically scheduled for student audiences through out the Northeast. This year the Tour continues to expand—appearing at theatres in Maine, New York, New Jersey, Vermont and across Massachusetts, including Shakespeare & Company’s mainstage—Packer Playhouse in Lenox. In 2016 we are offering productions of Twelfth Night and Macbeth.
Typically, these student shows feature plays that are central to school curriculum. In addition to Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare & Company also has performed adaptations of The Scarlet Letter and Ethan Frome.
Taking students to see Shakespeare gives them an opportunity to experience his plays as live theatrical events, rather than simply as literature.
Teachers who bring groups to Shakespeare performances can download Study Guides to prepare their students for the event. Also, shows are often followed by our interactive audience talkback sessions with the actors.
