Annette Miller, who plays the mother-in-law Madame Aigreville in The Ladies Man (opening tonight in Founders’ Theatre), was recently interviewed by Terry Byrne of the Boston Globe. She talked about her past roles at Shakespeare & Company, stretching her comic muscles, and enjoying chaos on stage.
I do think my character in ‘The Ladies Man’ is also larger than life,” she says by phone during a rehearsal break. “I’m a bastion of morality who gets caught in some compromising positions when I’m trying to prove to my daughter that her husband is a ladies’ man.”

A true French farce about a suave doctor whose young wife and fire-breathing mother-in-law suspect of infidelity, The Ladies Man features razor-fine, saucy language and whip-smart dialogue that make this comedy zing. Written by Charles Morey from Georges Feydeau’s Tailleur Pour Dames, and directed by Shakespeare & Company’s director of education Kevin Coleman. (Check out the video interview with Kevin Coleman.)

The new Production and Performing Arts Center is nearing completion! Nick Puma and architect Stephan Green led the press on a tour of the facility, highlighting the building’s features and explaining the artistic goals of the new spaces.
When will you get your chance to see the new space in person? Will you come to see The Goatwoman of Corvis County, the first show to perform in the new Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre, this August? Or will you come by to enjoy the public spaces? Either way, this dream is becoming a reality…
Shakespeare & Company’s Shakespeare In the Courts program was the subject of a three-part feature in the Albany Times Union. The Shakespeare in the Courts project, created seven years ago, took place last month in Pittsfield and North Adams. The feature included a slideshow and video of the rehearsal process.
The judge believes people can play many roles in life. His proudest role, though? Co-creator of Shakespeare in the Courts, with Kevin Coleman, the educational director of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Mass. The two met nearly 30 years ago, when Shakespeare & Company was new in town and Coleman asked to produce a student show at Lenox High, where Perachi was then the principal.
